Can you tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Xena, I’m from Washington, DC, but I just moved to Brooklyn, NY a few years ago. As a social activist in my own right, I try to fight the system by empowering youth, so I started GRIT Charter school. Recently, I volunteer at a Community Center and I have my own Life Coaching practice. I am an introvert, so I do not really go out much, but I do have a sex buddy that lives in my building. There isn’t really anything between us, but lately he has been hinting towards more.
What is your role in the story?
In this story, I am one of the main characters alongside Xavier. My role is to basically drive Xavier crazy, as I keep trying to run from our budding relationship that means more to me than I would like to admit. This comes from insecurity and the inability to see that good things can happen to people like me. I am also very independent, but Xavier wishes for me to totally depend on him and that just will not work, well I don’t think it will.
What is your favorite hobby?
Since, I cannot say my job, I will say my hobby is reading. As an introvert, I like to escape my reality of not being in a meaningful relationship, by reading about relationships. However, I also volunteer at the Community Center in my neighborhood and try to give back in ways that are meaningful to me.
What is the challenge you’re trying to overcome during the story?
The challenge that I am trying to overcome is the nagging feeling that Xavier’s possessiveness is out of control. He not only tries to control me, but he has embedded himself in every aspect of my life and affairs. I am also trying to overcome how I was raised. My parents raised me to be strong and independent, but secretly, I want to depend on someone like Xavier, but I am not certain if I can afford to trust him completely with my heart and my future.
If you could make one wish, what would it be?
My wish would be to see if Xavier’s motives and actions are noble and if he has my best interest at hear. I fear that I may get stuck in a toxic relationship where we are no good for each other, just because we are strongly attracted to one another, does not mean we should be together forever.
