Of course, I’d be happy to. My name is Ecstasy Reigns. Actually, that’s my stage name, but I love it so much I use it all the time. Please call me Ecstasy. I worked in this circus for a while, but it was so stifling I quit. I’ve been working on my own show and it’ll be ready for the stage in a few months, as soon as this little escapade in this book is over. I still have to finish the costumes and rent a theater. There’s so much to do.
What is your role in the story?
I’m a wizard and the only sensible one in the group. We call ourselves, the Octagon. Don’t you just love it? Anyway, I’ve been trying to talk some sense into my husband, Nemesis; he’s the leader of the group, you know. I told him we should just ask the Elves for Shinjan’s wand, but he doesn’t think they’ll just give it up. He’s threatened to kill one of them. What was his name again? Lord somebody or other.
What is your favorite hobby?
Magic, of course. I’m a wizard, darling.
What challenges are you trying to overcome?
People are just so prejudiced when it comes to two gay men in love with each other. They just don’t understand and think it’s abnormal. I’ve been in love with Nemesis for over ten years and we’ve been married for three. I still love him.
If you could make one wish, what would you wish for?
Hmmm, let me think about this. I wish…for peace on Earth. No wait, I mean I do want that but that’s not what you’re looking for, is it? I wish for a hit show on Broadway. I’m an entertainer, you know. Actually, in order to do that, I need to wish that I survive this book. The Elves aren’t afraid to strike back at us, especially that girl, Alex. She’s quite frightening, you know. Yes, I wish that she doesn’t kill us all. Oh my, I’m up to four wishes, aren’t I?
Is there anything else you would like to say?
Yes, I’d like everyone to know that attacking the Elves wasn’t my idea. I think they’re wonderful people. So none of what happens in this book is my fault. Please remember that as you read. It’s a marvelous book, by the way, in spite of how the author portrays us wizards. We aren’t bad people. Thank you for listening to me and I hope you come to see my show, “Ecstasy, Drag Queen Extraordinaire!” That’s French, you know.
