Can you tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Maxwell Thompson, but you can call me Max. I’m really no one special: just a guy who’s trying to take care of a few friends, and… save the world.
What is your role in the story?
I’m desperately trying to get out captivity and get back to the beach of Rocky Point, Mexico to protect my friends, the Kings. They’re a great family who owns a vacation beach home next door to mine. In fact, Bill King is probably my best friend. You see, our relationship goes way back… well that’s another story.
Anyway, the apocalypse finally occurred—everyone calls it the Event--and although I planned for this, I guess I made a few errors in judgment and didn’t plan on one of the local drug cartels nabbing me before I could get the Kings out of harm’s way and get them to Colorado, to a the safety of a place called Cicada. I’ll let you read about that one.
What is your favorite hobby?
Mmm. If it’s not pissing off our neighbor Clyde Clydeston--He is a horse’s ass and a pervert, who dates woman far too young for him, I guess it would be just hanging out with Bill and Lisa (King), or talking tech with Sally (the King’s eldest).
What is the challenge you’re trying to overcome during the story?
Stupid question… the apocalypse of course. Followed by not getting killed, keeping my friends safe, getting to Cicada, and worrying about the extinction of all humans.
If you could make one wish, what would it be?
Normally I would say, to plan better! But now I would have to say, I wish I could somehow reconnect Bill & Lisa King with two of their three kids who are stuck--I hope that’s all--somewhere in the Mid-West because of the Event. You see, without electricity, normal transportation, and communications, we have no way of knowing what’s become of them. Bill & Lisa are beside themselves with worry over this.

Hello lovers of apocalyptic fiction!
I devour the same books I enjoy writing: science fiction, but especially anything apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic or dystopian. I love stories about regular people being put into extra ordinary circumstances, and having to rely on their own cunning and that of others to survive.
Stone Age & DESOLATION are that kind of story. They’re fast moving, have some regular and amazing characters who must make life changing decisions, all while the world is experiencing an apocalypse unlike anything imagined.
When not writing fiction, my wife and I split time between Tucson, Arizona and the sunny beaches of Mexico. I also write for a few blogs, and I still write articles to assist small business owners for one of the companies I founded, SmallBiZ.com.
